Covers I Most Likely Won't Use...Ever

Yesterday I was going through my computer deleting stories that I started and forgot about a hundred words in or so, pictures that I no longer needed, and useless apps. That's when I found a bunch of covers I made for a bunch of my "never to be finished" manuscripts. Some were recent, others were so old I temporarily forgot that they existed.
So today I am going to be showing a few! I put a copyright on most of them, but honestly the only one I actually care about not being posted elsewhere is the one of my littles sister's face. If any of you want one of these pictures for actual covers (without the words for my books on them of course), I would be happy to give them to you! Except for the one with my baby sister's face.

I'm actually on the third chapter in this one, but I haven't worked on it in months. It's a dystopian book about what the world would be like if it was run by socialist and terrorists, so it was kind of political...
This was my little brother's hand. I melted sharpie, got him to lay his hand on the floor, and poured some of it on his palm. There is now a small pink stain on my bedroom floor, but it was worth it!

I started writing this story when I was eleven, it was about this girl, Emily, who had a mad scientist for a father. And her father is obsessed with the way the brain can remember things and unravel puzzles. So he starts testing his daughter's memory and street smarts when she's young by "forgetting" her at parks and stores. But when Emily turns twelve he puts her in the ultimate survival game..
I took that picture recently and I wanted to use it for a cover and I thought this unfinished story was perfect.

I started writing this... a long time ago. Basically, it's about a nine year old who's secretly a spy. I was super happy about this story idea, until I realized how overused and cliché the whole kid spy thing was.
Aannndddd that's my little sis! She's a stinker, but she's adorable (don't tell her I said that, she'll murder me).

There was never a storyline for this one, I got bored, took a picture of a brush patch, and made up a random title.

This one's about a young girl who is kidnapped and sailed across the sea to be sold. I started writing this when I was thirteen, and I got three hundred words in and gave it up. I'm kinda a quitter, can't you tell?

That's it! I hope y'all enjoyed my random book covers that I probably won't ever use, which is a little sad, but whatever. Sometimes the story isn't the right one.

Which one was your favorite cover? What are your unfinished works about?

Happy Writing,

  1. I want to read The Game. I'm already engrossed in it. Also, Rise and Fall sounds interesting. Haha, the pink stain will remind you of your commitment to your writing. Good for your brother. :D

    1. Lol, the pink stain is either that or a constant reminder that I need help.. My dad wasn't exactly jumping for joy though, he made half of our house by himself including my bedroom, so it's his baby. He FREAKED out when he saw the puddle of red sharpie, it's funny now to me, but then I was worried he would explode because his face was slowly turning lovely shade of red!!

    2. Lol. Aww, I love wooden floors. There's just something inspiring about it. Kind of like how us book lovers get when someone leaves a mark on our books. xD
It'll leave a memory when you get older. :)

    3. Yep. Unlike the various nail polish stains I have spotting my floor that I have covered up with books... sshhhhh! Don't tell him!!
He's going to cry when I move out and clean out my room, but not just because I'm leaving, but because nail polish is pretty much impossible to get out! But hey, what can I say, I'm a girl. :P

    4. Yeah, we still have nail polish stains on our table. lol
Let's just say, I never knew that nail polish could be so permanent. Sheesh. If you ever want to be a vandal, just spread nail polish all clean, wooden tables. xD

And spilling nail polish in order to be a vandal, love it! xD

    7. Oh my gosh! lol
LHE has put a million little stains on our table in her years at our house. (I'll only admit to ONE stain...)

I have so many books that I have given up on, and some of the "covers" are a little weird. lol

    1. Thanks! Too bad it didn't work out with that one...
And covers usually are weird when you think about it!

    2. You're welcome!
They are... I haven't made too many.... strange ones, but they're still a little odd....

    3. I am in the middle of a book called Robins, and it has a robin on the front, ready to fly away.
I know, not very original, but I'm kinda bad at coming up with new covers. My artistic blood is failing me.....

I cannot make covers for the life of me, but I wish I could. I may have to hire you to make me one XD

    1. Thank you! I'm not very good at making covers, but if you ever are in need of my (very) humble services, I would be more than happy to help!

  4. I like how you take your own photos for covers! That's sure to make a unique cover (just thinking of those genres whose covers all kind of look the same)! And that story 'The Game' sounds really interesting! :)

    1. Yeah, taking my own pictures is fun, but sometimes I wish I had more people to model as characters, because that would be awesome! Right now I use my siblings.

    2. I'll travel over to where you are and model for you. xD *I wish*

    3. Lol, that'd be awesome! But since I'm writing more to the juvenile audience, I'm just going to beg all of my siblings friends next time! :P
So it looks like you won't have to hit the road!!! ;)

    4. Lol!!! I won't be pestering any pilots for a discount. xD
Aww, that's a fun way to do a cover. Once you have your books published, and you look back, you'll know that the people on your covers are real and not imaginary. :)
