Meeting My First EOTD fangirl

I'm typing this really fast because I'm about to leave any second, but I decided to tell y'all this funny story.

I was helping out with a library program for tweens and teens the other day, when the kids at the table I was supervising started talking about books. Then, this girl around eleven or twelve started rambling about e-books and how she randomly buys any e-book that's cheap and looks good. And then she started complaining about reading this one book that was really good, but pretty much everyone dies in it.
During this I was only half listening, until she said the words "Kari is the queen forever". I started a bit, but then figured that more than one character is named Kari. But then she said this, "I am so mad at Gray, I can't even." At this point I was trying my best not to burst out laughing, it's not everyday a complete stranger starts complaining about my book in front of me. I would've kept quiet, because I'm sorry, but anyone who actually likes Enemy of the Dawn, the novella I wrote when I was twelve and insane, is probably crazy. But unfortunately, one  my students from my writing workshop I'm teaching this month, was there at my table, and she was like, "Wait, are you talking about Enemy of the Dawn?"
And the girl was like, "Yes. Have you read it?"
And my student looked at me and grinned, "Not yet, but she wrote it." she pointed at me.

Yep. The first thing that crossed my mind when that happened was, uh, oh. And then the girl attacked, "HOW DARE YOU KILL THEM!?! YOU'RE HORRIBLE!"
And I couldn't take it anymore, so I burst out laughing.
"This isn't funny," she went on, "You killed almost all of them."
I stopped laughing, and composed myself, trying to look serious. There was a moment of silence. And then the girl randomly said this, "Eadric was in love with Sage near the end."

Me: Uh, he actually wasn't, she was more of a mother figure to hi-
         Girl: I could tell.
Me: Okayyyy, however you want to read into that.

Then the girl's mom came into the room, telling her they were leaving, but before she walked away she said one last thing, "Eadric is MINE."

So that's how I met my first fangirl...from when I was twelve. It was very interesting, to say the least.

Have any of y'all ever met a crazy fangirl for your book?
What did y'all or what would you have done?

Happy Writing,

    1. Thanks! It was pretty funny, especially when she said "Eadric is mine." I think I died a little on the inside then! XD

  2. I love your picture. It kind of looks like a dragon from How To Train Your Dragon (which is my favorite movie series because I'm still a young child at heart.) AND ITS EATING COOKIES!? WHO DOESN'T LOVE COOKIES!

I think if I ever meet a fan, it will be awkward for me. I bet it was weird to hear someone talking about your book and complaining about it while YOUR STANDING RIGHT THERE!

(I apologize for all the caps. I'm on a sugar high from the frozen strawberry lemonade slush I'm drinking, lol.)

    God bless.

    1. Thank you! And who doesn't love cookies?!?!

It was a mixture of awkward and funny, lol.

Ooooh, a sugar high commenter! Well, I wish your parents, friends, and family luck with you since slushies are quite dangerous sugar high-inducing drinks! XD

    2. Sugar highs are fun. You have your slushy excuse for being crazy. Lol (I'm talking about "you" in general.) Getting a sugar high from drinking slushies is definitely worth it. LOL

    3. Lol, I was kidding about the sugar high, but the slushie was delicious. It had extra strawberries on the bottom. Sonic slushies rule! But thanks, y'all, for the concern. ;)

Yes, slushies are worth it. Especially on a hot day. (Heat index was high where I live.)

      God bless y'all.

    4. It was super hot here too! Luckily, I was at the pool all day doing 100s and 50s, so now instead of being hot, I'm just sunburned even though I re-applied three times, lol!

    5. I feel you. I'm pretty fair complected and I can't really tan. I just burn. A pool sounds fun. Especially with this hot weather. :)

    8. Ivie: I wish it would stay not too hot, but not too cold. I mean, good enough for shorts and a t-shirt. Lol I hate it when it's extreme on both levels. Concerned? Sugar highs are hilarious, as long as the person isn't a tiny child and there are no breakables around. Also if I wouldn't have to be the one cleaning the mess up.... (children who have no concern for other's nerves...)xD
      God bless!

LOL!!!!! That's so hilarious. I'd DIE of laughter if anyone was talking about my book like that.
"Eadric is MINE." --------this is too much. I'd probably faint from a moment of too little oxygen, and need someone to come and carry me away. Maybe Eadric....JK! Lol (I'm guessing it's a guy.....plz tell me so. Lol)
Thanks for telling that story. I hope someone does that about mine sometime.*pleads world to love me and my dear writings*

I was dying on the inside. Luckily, Eadric is a guy, it would've made it a bit more awkward if he wasn't, lol.
I hope so too, it's now one of my funniest writer moments!

    2. You're welcome. ;)
Thank goodness. Lol It would have been a bit awkward...
You got moments of fame as a writer. That's cool that you teach a writing workshop. That'd be cool to do one. Having a partner would be fun as well. When do you start? Or have you already started?

    3. I'm almost done actually! I've been teaching it once a week this whole month, and it's been going well.

    4. What's it like to teach a workshop?

    5. It's a lot of fun! I plan on doing a post about it sometime, but it's been a very good experience.

    6. Is it stressful thinking that you might mess up or say something that confuses them? I think about everything. Lol
I'd love for you to do a post about it. :)
I bet they enjoyed having you as a teacher. I know I would enjoy being a student and teaching somewhat. :)
I want to go to a writer's conference SOOOO bad. *sigh*

    7. It was stressful the first day... I actually kind of teared up when I stood up in front of the room, because I was so nervous. But after the first thirty minutes I went back to normal and was fine. Sometimes I think I'm having more fun than them! XD

Oooh, I do too! I've never been to a legit writer's conference yet, but I hope to someday.

      Delete
    8. Oh no! Poor thing. That's probably what I would do. That sounds like the normal, first time panic times. I bet you did!

That'd be cool if all us writers and bloggers could go and meet each other. Then we can all experience the same conference together. That's be neat if there was a low expense, Christian writer's conference. *day dreaming*

    9. That would be awesome! Maybe one day that dream will become a reality, you never know. :)

Sorry XD I seem to be really caught up in this hope.

    13. Ivie...maybe one day....YES!

Anna: It's so my dream. If we all knew each other's emails, then we could connect and plan something. Lol Hey, you never know what will happen. Like I told Gray, weirder things have happened...xD
      God bless you all! <3

    14. Too bad a good portion of us live in Australia... But one day when I have money maybe I'll try to organize a bloggers unite convention! *daydreams* XD

      Delete
    15. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! WHY?! I love Australia.
PLEASE, Gray. We'd all have to pitch in to organize something like that. Lol

      Delete
    16. I love Australia too! (I mean, I've never been but it sounds awesome), I just meant that since we're all a bit scattered across the globe, it's not the most realistic at the moment. But who knows? Maybe one day.

      Delete
    17. Oh, I know that's what you meant. It's so sad that we're all so far apart. If we weren't then we could have a better chance of meeting. *sigh*
I've never been either, but I wish too sometime. I hear they have huge spiders and lizards. (I'm serious. You should see the pictures) It's weird at how big they get. *shudder* I hate bugs so much. Eek. That's why camping isn't for me. Lol
I was going to send you a link of the huge bugs (centipedes, moths, spiders), but I couldn't handle seeing them. I was sitting here screaming while my sister's enjoying my moments of terror. Then while I was covering my eyes and pleading her to get off the page, she secretly saves a picture of a giant centipede to my files. Then I go look at my files and it pops out. I squealed the most to that bug...*pant*. I can't even stand the little ones. Never mind the huge ones. I sound so childish right now. Lol

  6. I was wondering what in the world that picture was...forgive me but I thought it was some sort of mutant cat when I first looked at it. Now that I look at it closer, it is much cuter than I thought.

Oh my gosh, I hope my first fangirl moment is just as hilarious as yours, Gray!
