this post was really negative but i re-wrote it several times

I can’t write for anything, everything comes out wrong and it’s so frustrating I want to cry

I can’t do this, I’ll never finish this story. I fail as a writer, I fail at doing the thing I love most.

Am I even a writer anymore? I want to fling my laptop at a wall, why is this so hard? Why can’t I do this? Why must I fail at everything? My writing stinks. My writing is empty and uninspired.

I can and I will write and I will write well and to the best of my abilities.

I will write what is on my heart and what is in my soul. Maybe one day my words will help someone or inspire them, maybe my books will be there for them like so many books were there for me.

I am a writer, I love words, I love writing words.

I love the feeling of the keys under my fingertips, the way they clack as I type.

I love creating worlds, characters, and problems for them to overcome.

I am a writer, and thus, I write.

It doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to be #famous, it just has to be heartfelt and honest.

For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.-Philippians 4:13

Sorry for the random post, I've just been in a slump when it comes to everything lately.

  2. *all the hugs* You can do this, Gray!! Slumps are the worst, but they all end eventually. Being honest and real in your writing is the most important thing, not how many sales there are, or a story's popularity. I believe in you! <3

  3. You are an amazing person and you need to know it, believe it, and know that I believe it. <3

    1. Your writing already inspires me. Your characters are amazing and characters are the lifeblood to a book. It's not the plot, not the setting, not even the writing. Characters are the main thing and your characters are so epic. (Honestly, I think about Piper and Josh and Alex a lot. I love them already and I only know little snippets.)

    2. Get lost in your love for creating worlds. Forget about the fact that people may or may not read this book. Write for yourself. Write the book you need. Let this book be theraputic for you. Let it be what your soul is urging you to write. Don't worry if anyone will read it. For now, it's for you and you only. (Not doing self promo or anything, but I will be addressing this topic in my series on my blog. I'll probably address it next, actually. I only say this because maybe it will help. <3)

    3. You rock and you're an awesome writer. Your snippets are so EPIC and they inspire me. Do not doubt your ability to write. YOU'VE GOT THIS GIRL!

*hugs* I know you're going to write an amazing book, whether it's for the world or for yourself. No matter what, it will be epic. <3 (Always know I'm available on hangouts if you ever need to talk.) <3

    1. Thanks, Vanessa! The only good thing about negative thoughts is that you can use them to let people know they aren't alone. <3

  7. Girl. I am 20 years old and have been pursuing publication since 9th grade. Our dream is worth pursuing whether it happens as teens or adults or elderly folk. I know it's hard. Some days I want to cry. Some days I DO cry.
Keep striving. I know you'll reach your dream! *Hugs*

  8. Aw, Gray, I’m sorry you’re feeling that way right now! You can do this. You’re a great writer, even if it’s hard to see it. Slumps are awful, but they don’t last, either. Your books are going to be amazing! *hugs*

  11. I've been there. It's rough, I know. Try to push through it, it'll go away in time. Maybe just try to not try so hard, maybe shake something up and try it a different way? Sorry, that's the best advice I can offer.

  12. Girl, I feel this so much myself but sometimes I think of the comments you made about my story ideas on my blog and they make me feel better.

Also, we're waiting for that story! I'm honestly really looking forward to it because of the deep themes (and no romance xD). It's honestly the sort of stuff I wish I wrote when I was your age. When I was your age, I hit this huge writing slump and didn't write very much until last year. It still kinda affects my writing because there were so many things I didn't know about writing.

Girl, you got this! I believe you'll be able to get that WIP published in as many editions as you like!

  13. A guy from our church once said, "One way you know you're a Christian is if you >struggle< with sin." A person who isn't a Christian doesn't need to struggle with sin because there is no such thing for them. The phrase could be changed to say, "One way you know you're a writer is if you >struggle< with writing." Someone who isn't a writer has no need to struggle with writing because THEY DON'T WRITE.

Don't listen to voices that tell you you're not a writer. YOU ARE. God gave you this passion for writing, and He will inspire you.

You've got this, Gray. Get a cup of coffee, take up your pen, sit down at your keyboard, let your imagination run free, and WRITE. <33
