I guess this is goodbye

Memories of summers spent arm in arm, sitting on top of picnic tables, riding on carousels, telling bad jokes and funny stories.

Through the years things have changed, facial hair was grown, a few of us tried bright hair dyes and purple lipstick, and a few people in our circles faded away, we said goodbye to friends who we never saw again.

But standing here with the small group of friends who through the years stayed as well as new friends we've made along the way, the realization of how much we've changed hits me full force.

Snapshots of us being silly in hallways and whispering to each other snarky remarks flash before my eyes.

Growing up here with everyone, I never imagined my last day. I knew it would happen, but it always seemed so far away, and now it's here.

I feel a bit sad about leaving because the people here are probably some of the closest friends I've ever had.

Just yesterday we were six swinging on swings and chasing sweet dreams of being heroes.

But as soon as it began, it's over??? WHAT????

This has been a chapter of my life, and I'm so grateful for all of the people who stayed in it. Y'all have been such big impacts on me.

Thank y'all for the past ten years. I love you guys.

Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.-

Friday was the last day of my co-op, and I doubt that I'm going back next year,
and even if I did--half of my friends aren't coming back either.

Have you ever had to leave people and places behind?

P.S. Did I scare anyone with the title? :P

  1. I was actually worried this post mean't you were leaving your blog, thank goodness that it was not. XD
Do NOT ever think about leaving your blog! EVER!

Also, I'm so happy you have such nice friends. :) I'm sorry that they aren't coming back to the co-op though. :(

P.S. Just so you know, you have two comment forms, I don't know if that's a glitch...but I thought I would let you know.

    1. Don't worry--I don't see the end of my blogging days anytime soon!! >.<

      They're amazing people. <3

Hmm, I don't know what you mean about comment forms?

    2. That's good, but if you were thinking about stopping blogging ever, you would have a lot of angry followers to deal with *nods head*

Weirdly, it disappeared when I commented but there were two before that, perhaps you can make a page on your blog and it might show up.

  2. Gonna miss you next year!! I always love our funny and yet sometimes complex conversations over the years. You've helped me so much to stretch myself (in a good way xD). I'm also not sure if I'm going to be back at co-op next year but I hope to still see you around! <333

  3. When friends leave my church (God calling their family to another one), it's always hard for me. It's happened a few times over the years and is never easy. So I feel you, girl! Thank the Lord for sweet memories - and the technology to stay in touch. ;)

  4. YOU SCARED THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME!!!!!! I WAS LIKE, "whaaaa does she think she's doing? does she think she can escape us??" xD xD

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about that. Change is... it's not fun. But you don't grow if you don't change. And if these friends are true, they will stay by you no matter what. <3

    2. And when you said final days before adding context, I was like, "whaaaaaaaaaaaa." but its all good. Great clickbait, honestly. I mean, I would click your posts anytime anyway, but still, each title gets scarier and scarier. xD

I KNOW!!! I knew that you knew better than that. :D

And great post! It’s hard leaving people, but that’s the great thing about the Internet: you can still keep in touch. :)

  7. I was wondering about that title ... ;p But yeah, these days ending must be hard. But I've found that sometimes life throws people together in new and better ways. So maybe there's still ways you and your friends can be together ;)

  13. Isn't it so sad to have to leave? I finished school last month and I'm going to be leaving my youth group at church and I'm SO SAD. Most of my friends have already graduated out of it, but I'm still going to miss it so much. :'(

  15. I was definitely low key worried, though I shouldn't be falling for it by now xD The last time I left a lot of people behind was in Primary school, so that was basically a long time ago. Like, nine years ago?

  16. (These titles. Yeesh, you scared me!)

Oh, it is so hard! Both of my best friends have moved away to where I only see them once or twice a year, but I love talking to them on the phone, texting them, and writing letters. No matter the distance, the memories are still there!
