six books you simply must read this summer!!

Here are some of my favorite books that you should totally read (if you haven't already) this summer!

bad but nostalgic pic from a few months ago of the back of my friends heads as we stared up at stars. If that doesn't scream summer, what does?

  • The Giver quartet // Lois Lowry

~Going against conformity. Complexity. Secrets. Rebel with a worthy cause.~

  • The Blue Castle // L.M. Montgomery

~Imagination. Breaking free. Finding love. Adventures. Stories.~

  • To Kill a Mockingbird // Harper Lee

~Beautiful characters. Depicts injustice and the harshness of this world through the eyes of a child. Honesty.~

  • Muscle and Shovel // Michael Shank

~Searching for truth. Obeying the bible. Seeing through lies. Searching. Studying.~

  • Last Light series // Terri Blackstock
~No power. Blackout. Struggle for survival. Unity. Adapting to a new lifestyle.~

  • The Mysterious Woods of Whistle Root // Christopher Pennell
~Anciet forest. Quirky characters. Magic. Musical rats. Dancing owls. Friendship. Moonlight.~

Have you read any of these?
Do you have any recommendations? Please share!

  2. I LOVE the Giver books!!! <333 I haven't read the last one yet (my parents wanted me to wait a bit until I read it) but the first three were PHENOMENAL.
That last one sounds really cool! I may need to look that one up at my library. :-D

  4. I haven't read any of these books. :) But The Mysterious Woods of Whistle Root sounds interesting (and weirdly from what you said with "musical rats" sounds a little like Coraline, but probably less scary.)

    1. It does a bit doesn't it? It has some scary elements, but probably not as scary as Coraline.

  8. To Kill A Mockingbird is the only one of these that I have read (but it is wonderful)! I was actually looking for a book to read the other day, so I think I'll go with The Giver, but the one with dancing owls sounds interesting too...

  12. It might be time for me to reread the Giver. It's been a few years. I had to read To Kill A Mockingbird for school last year, and I just got the sequel, Go Set a Watchman, from the library.
