The Broken Prince by Kara Linaburg | Review

Hey guys!

My friend, Kara is publishing her book, and I had the great privilege to read it. So here's my review along with some aesthetics I couldn't resist making (all images from pinterest).

In all the fairy tales the maiden falls in love with the prince...but she has to remember that this isn’t a fairy tale.

Born into a kingdom where those of magical Gifts are rejected, feared, and even killed, Serena has spent her life striving to hide her ability and keep her younger brother safe.

The son of the hated king and father he hardly knows, Prince Milosh is considered an outcast. He never expects to feel anything but contempt for the peasant girl who unexpectedly shows up in his life, forcing him to answer questions he never wished to ask.

When two very different worlds are thrown together under less than desirable circumstances, both hold deep judgment towards the other. But will they learn to see beyond their stations and birth so that they may defeat the coming darkness, or will labels given to them at birth continue to define them?

I am not one for fantasy, but this book swept me off my feet!
The characters are heartfelt and beautifully real. The world was vivid and so well described it was almost tangible.

AND CAN I JUST MENTION ALL OF THE CONFLICT IN THIS BOOK?! I was constantly on the edge of my seat.

I only have two complaints:

1. The diction. Typical fantasy diction is not my favorite, I find it distracting and it slows down the pacing too much for me. I found that the way the characters spoke made it hard for me to get into this story, but I did get past it after awhile and enjoyed myself.

2. It was too short. I. NEED. MOREEEE.

All in all, Kara is a talented author, this is such a promising first book, I can't wait to read what she writes next!

Rating: ☆ four stars out of five stars

  5. Remind me to have you make me aesthetics for my book whenever I get published. Like wow, I want to read this book just because of those haha ;D

    1. I love making aesthetics, so I would happily make you some! :D

  6. This book seems really interesting. :) Since it is Fantasy book (and as a Fantasy writer) I was wondering what type of magic does it have in it? (And would you classify the magic as being High Fantasy, Low Fantasy, etc.)
Other than that, this book sounds really neat, and I might check it out sometime.

    1. P.S. I would love to see more book reviews by you. :D

    2. It's more of a low fantasy read, only a handful of characters have powers and the powers are limited. ^_^

Thanks! I have another review that will come out this month, so you will read more in the future.

    3. Oooh neat. (Though I much prefer High Fantasy, but even so I might be interested in a Low Fantasy story.) Also are there any creatures in the world besides humans in the Broken Prince? (Just wondering)
Cool, I can't wait to read it.

    4. No magical creatures, just characters with supernatural powers.

  7. I love all the aesthetics! Sounds like a cool book!

  8. Ooooh I love the sound of this one! And those aesthetics are gorgeous. <3

  9. I haven't read it yet, but hopefully I'll get to sometime!
