update on panama mission trip

UPDATE:

Panama has been FANTASTIC so far. It’s amazing how sweet all of my brothers and sisters are, whether they speak my language or not. English isn’t spoken a lot where we are. Luckily, when it comes to talking  to people to try to evangelize, we have brothers and sisters who are able to translate.

The kids are SO cute, they have learned my name and I am working on learning all of theirs, although I still get a few giggles as I accidentally say their names completely wrong.

I sat by a brother on a bus back to the place we were meeting for worship and he showed me pictures of his wife and children on his phone, smiling fondly. I showed him a picture of my family as well and he nodded approvingly.

An elderly man walked up to me and exclaimed, “Mi hermana!”
“Hola!” I greeted him.
“No English.” He shrugged apologetically.
“No espaΓ±ol,” I said mirroring him. We grinned at each other for a time before laughing and shaking hands.
After that he tried to teach me a few words in Spanish by pointing at objects and repeating words.

And last but not least, today was our first day to go evangelize and one of our groups studies became a Christian! I am so happy for my new brother in Christ and I pray that He will lead his loved ones to truth and remain in the faith.

I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Also, for some reason blogger won’t let me comment on my blog with my iPhone?? But anyways, I’ve read y’all’s comments and they’re  so sweet and encouraging, thank you! I appreciate y’all so much.  πŸ’›

  5. I'm glad you're having such a great trip! And that's so awesome that somebody became a Christian! The same thing happened at my church yesterday morning. After the sermon my pastor asked if anybody needed prayer, and a visitor spoke up and said, "I've never really been saved. I want to be saved." I just love witnessing such an awesome moment. <3

  8. Ahhhh, I'm so excited for you, Gray!! It's great you've gotten the opportunity to do something so life-changing and consequential as this. I went on a trip to Guatemala a few years ago to build houses for the poor, and it was just incredible. Hope things continue to go well!!
