Dear Discouraged Person

There are so many good things in this world.
A flower blooming for the first time.
The gentle buzz of a bumblebee as it bumps from bud to bud, blossom to blossom.
The joyful laughter of a child.
The smell of coffee in the morning.
A mother's face when she holds her newborn baby for the first time.

So many wonderful things ahead of you and I...

Sunsets and road trips.
Bear hugs and hand squeezes.
3 a.m. conversations from the heart and late-night adventures.
New bands and playlists.
Stories around campfires and starry nights.

I look around and I see life.
There are so many moments of complete happiness.
Dimples.
Freckles.
Shining eyes.
Sunday mornings.
Hymns being sung.
And kind words in this world.

So many beautiful memories that have yet to be made.
So many friends you haven't met yet.
And so many flowers that haven't bloomed yet but will.

Why look back on the then when we have the now?
There's too much new life to focus on death.
Too much hope to focus on sadness.

Look, I'm just going to be straight up now:

The maker of the universe didn't send His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you just so you can throw away the life you were given.

Life is tough but so are you, don't forget that.

Psalm 129:2
